Mythic Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids

Join us at the Chagrin Falls Branch Library when the Cleveland Museum of Natural History discusses Mythic Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids. This is an exhibition at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History which is on display from March 3, 2012 to July 1, 2012. People combine nature and culture to conjure fanciful beings that are often based on real fossils or living animals. Often the results are quite interesting and appear to be quasi-natural like mermaids that are people and fish, dragons that often have wings, legs AND arms, unicorns made from whales and horses, and griffins that have dinosaur heads, eagle wings and lion bodies. See some actual materials and fossils that will really make you a believer in Mythic Creatures. The Cleveland Museum of Natural History presentation is part of the University Circle in the Valley cultural series sponsored by the Friends of the Chagrin Falls Branch Library.
