Music as Therapy

How is music used as therapy and in medicine? Are you curious to know what the "guitar lady" does? Come find out more about the unique intersection of art and research in clinical music therapy. We will explore therapeutic approaches through both theory and hands-on experiences and learn more about how music can help us all in coping with stress, illness and grief. Monika Hunziker-Schane is a Music Therapy Intern with Heartland Hospice Services of Cleveland. Monika is completing a Music Therapy degree at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. Monika, a native Swiss, was educated at the Conservatoire de Lausanne and the University of St. Gall, both in Switzerland and spent many years in international finance and the Swiss watch industry. Returning to her musical roots, Monika is striving to serve families from many cultural backgrounds with her extensive musical knowledge and multilingual skills.
