Imaginative Illustrations

Jim Gill, as teaching artist, leads the students through some basic drawing techniques, such as creating a character using simple geometric shapes at the Gates Mills branch Library. Students will also learn to depict basic emotions (happy, sad, angry, surprise) through facial expressions. Jim demonstrates how to create a scene complete with a character and setting beginning with a simple scribble provided by a student. The students then engage in the same activity creating scenes from simple scribbles or geometric shapes. Several students are then asked to share their drawings with the entire class. Concepts of main story elements are discussed (characters, setting and plot). Registration requested for this free program (440-423-4808).
