Four Great Estates of the Valley

Come spend a memorable afternoon with noted local historian and story teller Dan Ruminski at the Gates Mills Branch Library as he talks about four local estates which were among the greatest in the country. All built around 1917; the four are Circle W built by Walter White in Chesterland, Cedar Hill Farm built by Francis Drury in Gates Mills, Halfred Farms built by Windsor White in Hunting Valley and Daisy Hill Farm built by the Van Sweringen brothers in Hunting Valley. This is a fascinating story of why these estates were built and at what cost. Learn about the inner workings of each estate, the rivalry’s among those who built them and the bitter blood between two of these estate owners.
