CDFF Encore Series

CDFF Celebrates Black History Month with the screening of two short films. Station Hope: A Conversation – Cleveland is home to one of the few documented stops on the Underground Railroad. Local filmmaker Simone Barros tells the story of how a people seeking freedom along the Underground Railroad, continues to inspire Cleveland and its residents today. The Infamous Future, Winner of the 2019 CDFF Social Awareness Award, focuses on the inspiring educators and exceptional students of the Eagle Academy For Young Men schools in New York City – a glimpse into the educational model which inspires young Black and brown men from inner-city communities to become responsible leaders with strong character and a record of academic excellence. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with local organizations referencing how the topics in these impactful films are being addressed in Northeast Ohio.
