John Corrigan Artist Talk
This is the first exhibition of Mr. Corrigan’s distinctive art work, a 50-year resident of greater Cleveland, residing now in Russell Township, outside of Chagrin Falls. He spent his business career in the graphic arts business selling/marketing design and color for a few well-known local and national firms.
The show includes 50 watercolors; many with detail oriented pen work. The 20 newer paintings (2009/2012) provide scenes in or around Geauga County. The 30 older works (1957/2008) reflect scenes of his earlier life in Baltimore, Md. and multiple scenes of greater Cleveland, including the historic Shaker Square area; also New York City & State, done over the past 50 years. He became interested in art at 11 years old. It still works at 78! The distinctive and somewhat whimsical style, with detail oriented penwork and watercolor washes, is highly impressionistic and influence by the French painter Paul Signac.
The Exhibition runs from Saturday May 5th until Saturday June 30th. The opening reception is Saturday May 5th 2pm to 4pm. Mr. Corrigan will present an artist talk about his artwork and experiences in the graphic arts business on Wednesday May 9th at 2pm.
